Mobile Phone Sock

Fed up with having to get your phone replaced because you bashed it/cracked it/scratched it and it stopped working?  You’d be amazed how much damage doesn’t happen when you have a mobile phone sock.

A mobile phone sock is not, as it sounds, a sock with a mobile phone in it (as in, actual socks that you wear, equipped with 3G internet).  One day (soon, probably) a mobile phone sock will be exactly that (you can already get running shoes that are MP3 compatible, apparently):  but, right now, it isn’t.  A mobile phone sock is a far humbler cover for your phone, sometimes woolly, sometimes plastic, always a good idea.

You can get a mobile phone sock built by outdoorsy companies, designed to withstand the kind of conditions that would make Ray Mears pack up and go home:  and you can get a mobile phone sock free off the Beano, that looks like Roger the Dodger’s head.  In the run of everyday life, it has to be said, both types of mobile phone sock afford about the same protection – a mobile phone sock doesn’t have to be much to withstand the blows usually suffered inside an average person’s trouser pocket – though I suppose having a mobile phone sock that looks like a comic book character isn’t the right image for the boardroom, say, or the First Class carriage on the Flying Scotsman.

Roger the Dodger aside, though, your mobile phone sock doesn’t have to be branded, it doesn’t have to have a million clever pockets and (unless you really are Ray Mears, though his phone would certainly have this anyway) it doesn’t have to have an inbuilt GPS locator.  All you need from a mobile phone sock are that it not be too bulky or too heavy, that it fits your phone snugly and that it stops your phone from getting scratched.  Anything else a mobile phone sock looks like or does is really a bit pointless.   Though I’m sure a Beano fan would disagree.
